I can’t believe it’s already August! Kids are going back to school and fall is just around the corner. But there’s still warm weather where we’re at! And we can’t wait for what’s ahead…
We have some VERY big news. Seriously, this is the most excited we have been during this entire adventure. And we know you’re going to love it too.
We are soon going to be starting a new portion of Off Path Travels, something we’ve had planned since day one and are finally ready to take off on. What is it?! Keep reading to find out!
Three Months in Asia
We left you with our last Our Journey post when we were in Hoi An, Vietnam, halfway through our three-month journey in Southeast Asia. What a blast that was.
From Hoi An (one of our favorite locations in Vietnam – posts coming soon), we flew straight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Here, we not only had some of the best international cuisines in Southeast Asia, but more importantly, we witnessed the magical Angkor Wat temples.
I can’t say enough about this area in Cambodia and we are dying to go through our photos and videos to show you more. It is something that needs to go on your bucket list RIGHT NOW! I’m not kidding! Pull out that list of reminders, or that note you add to – whatever it is, add Siem Reap, Cambodia to it.
After Cambodia, we slowed down and had some major office time in Bangkok. Got a lot done, but of course, we explored a bit too!
We checked out some temples (of course) and a park in the heart of Bangkok’s new town center, complete with massive water monitors keeping watch along the shoreline. While there, got stuck in a massive rainstorm that nearly wiped out our camera gear (thankfully we had our waterproof dry-bag with us that day – the main reason you might see a fug-ly blue bag on my back pretty often).
The malls and shopping in Bangkok were another great part of the city. Not our usual thing, but we enjoyed it nonetheless due to its ridiculous size and the malls’ ability to hold anything and everything. My favorite section were the luxury car stalls on the 4th floor of an immense mall: Ferraris, Bentley, Rolls Royce, McLaren, and more. All in one spot. Jaw-dropping.
Family Time in Sweden
From Bangkok, we hopped on a flight to visit my sister who lives outside of Malmo, Sweden. Created some incredible memories there which Ill cherish forever. My second visit to Sweden and I can’t wait to go back.
We met up with my sister, brother, mom, and all of the significant others and kiddos that come along with. Explored the beaches in southern Sweden, the tourist traps in Copenhagen, the beauty of Stockholm, and so much more between it all.
But best of all was spending time with family and enjoying many Swedish parties. We enjoyed a traditional Swedish crayfish party, a blow-out birthday bash (which ROYALLY pissed off the neighbors), and a chill beachfront get-together with guitars and late-night singing. It was a fun time.
Our BIG Reveal
And now… We are going on an adventure we’ve planned since before Off Path Travels existed! Something that combines our love for camping, for finding new and exciting places, and for enjoying nature at its finest all into one GIANT Off Path adventure.
So what is it?!
We’re going OVERLANDING!
As I type this, we are back in my home in Colorado. We’re packing up my trusty Tahoe with all of the essentials: clothes, camping gear, toys, electronics, and a silly amount of food prep items.
Then we’re hitting the road with no end in sight. No reservations. Nights under the stars. Days driving down desolate dirt roads in the middle of nowhere. And food coming from one small cooler, cooked on one small stove or over an open fire.
Just us, the car, and the wide-open road.
To kick it off, we’ll be exploring Colorado for a few weeks, then heading west to Kristina’s home of San Diego, and then…
BAJA PENINSULA, MEXICO! We’re going to explore every inch of Baja, finding any Off Path recommendations and just generally putting cool stuff on the map.
After that? Who knows… Maybe hop on a ferry to mainland Mexico and keep heading south (Argentina anyone?). Maybe come back to the US and explore. Maybe sell the car and hop on another plane. Time will tell.
Thanks for being here. And stick around for a big blast of information coming your way soon. We can’t wait to start this new part of Off Path Travels. It’s one that’s sure to blow your socks off.
